Apple stops sale of most 3G products in Germany (Update)

Those of you in Germany looking to buy an iPhone (not the iPhone 4S) or iPad with 3G, well you’re out of luck. Apple has stopped selling those devices on their online store.

As usual Florian Müller has more information on it:

At this stage I am absolutely convinced that the removal of those products from Apple’s online store is a result of Motorola Mobility’s enforcement of a ruling that was handed down in early December, and not related to today’s ruling. It must be nothing more than a coincidence that Apple’s announcement of the removal of products — which some observers believe already happened last night, prior to the ruling — comes on the day of a different court decision.

According to Müller this currently only applies to Apples own online store, not retailers.

Update (via AllThingsD):

“All iPad and iPhone models will be back on sale through Apple’s online store in Germany shortly,” an Apple spokesperson told AllThingsD. “Apple appealed this ruling because Motorola repeatedly refuses to license this patent to Apple on reasonable terms, despite having declared it an industry standard patent seven years ago.”
