About those iPad WiFi issues

April 18th, 2010

This document provides details of the iPad/iPhone OS 3.2 DHCP issue Princeton University began seeing in April 2010. It provides information for individuals who would like more technical details about the issue.

In short: The iPad is getting an IP address but doesn’t respect the lease time and still keeps the old IP even though the lease has expired. I wonder how things like these can still happen? It’s not like it’s a new protocol or something.

No the protocol isn’t new but their ability to manage power this well is. Btw this isn’t the wifi issue that came around when the iPad was first released, that is a separate issue and Princeton verfies that as well.
